Analysis of a slide to determine jam angle | |||

I am interested in creating an FBD for a horizontal slide that translates along two parallel rails. The slide consists of a linear bearing with wipers at each of the four corners for a total of 4 bearings and 8 wipers. Each pair of wipers is separated at a distance equal to the length of the bearing. Each of the 8 wiper's creates a diametral squeeze that results in a friction force that is cumulative. For a diametral squeeze, we will apply a surface coefficient of friction and calculate this friction force. To move the slide, a cantilevered force is applied that creates a yaw moment.
Once the FBD is created, we will apply equations for equilibrium and solve for the unknowns unless of course the FBD results in a statically indeterminate problem. For a given friction force we want to determine the actuation force for impending motion and the yaw theta. Thank you. |
