Help required regarding torque screwdriver calculation | |||

hi all, I will appreicate if somebody can help me on torque screwdriver calculation. I am putting torque of 100 inch oz on my no . 6 (6-32) screw using torque screw driver. I am intrested in knowing what clamping or axial force i am putting on screw. Saurabh |

Per Shigley, T=K* Fi * d + Tr (when nut is torqued) T=1.2* K* Fi * d + Tr (when bolt head is torqued--accounts for bolt twisting) where, T=torque, Fi=bolt pre-load , d=nominal screw diameter, Tr= running torque (Tr is measured during installation) K Bolt Condition 0.30 Non-plated, dry 0.20 Zinc-plated 0.18 Lubed 0.16 Cadmium plated 0.12 Cu Anti-seize grease 0.20 Assumed if Condition is Unknown It should be noted that there is usually very wide scatter using this method. If you need to know preload accurately, use strain-gaged bolts (look for a vendor that does this), load indicating washers, ultrasonic bolt load determination (again, there are vendors who make this equipment), or other method. |
