That is a very broad question. And I would bet that almost everyone on this forum could have a different answer to it. A couple of my thoughts are.....A four stroke engine has more low end torque. A two cycle gets it's power in the higher RPM range. Thus, a two cycle engine operates at higher RPM's, benefit or disadvantage depends on what you are using the engine for. Benefit in a four stroke, if you get dust or dirt in the intake area, you have less of a chance of damaging the engine, the fuel only travels through the carb, intake and into the combustion chamber. A two cycle engine's fuel mixture travels through the crankcase (thats what lubricates the engine bearings, and thats why you mix oil with the fuel) if you lose an air filter then any dirt or dust that sucks into the carb goes directly into the crankcase.
