I am using a Helicoflex seal for the first time and am not sure whether to use the recommmended compression or torque values. The torque I calculated using the manufacturer's guide is extremely low - less than 20% of what I would normally torque the bolt to. I am concerned that this may lead to the bolts loosening over time. Has anyone used Helicoflex seals before?

Generally, Helicoflex seal installation (design) simular to orings. You design a groove (gland) of such depth that the resulting force given by the mating part (flange) on the seal is within the parameters given by the seal manufacturer. You will limit your seal compression force by the geometry of the mating parts. So, the fasteners that are holding together the parts are torqued to thier normal torque.
