Hello,

Can anyone help to explain why the thermal efficiency of a Gas Turbine increases with T3/T1... where T1 is ambient temperature and T3 is maximum operating temperature.

Also, I have the following values of efficiency for the Gas Turbine in question:

Compressor = 0.51
Turbine = 0.89
Combustion = 0.94
Thermal = 0.0164

Are these figures normal, if not, what should I expect?

Hi Alan,
When you say the efficiency of a gas turbine, do you mean the turbine itself, or the turbine and compressor?
Which equation are you using? The efficiency should go down with increasing exit temperature.
