I have a 4-way hydraulic servovalve to test. The spec requires connecting two of its active ports to a cylinder to control the flow (variable up to a max of 0.25 GPM) at 3000 psig. The specs do not provide any detail about this equipment, they just call it "flow analyzer cylinder". The only idea that I have is a hydraulic actuator which rod end is attached to a block driven by a linear motor. In this way, with the motor I can control the speed of the piston, hence I can control the flow to and from the servovalve and, at the same time, controlling the torque of the linear motor, I can adjust the resistance it applies on the rod of the cylinder, and with it I can adjust the pressure delivered by the servovalve. I would appreciate very much any feedback about this problem. It would be helpful if somebody can give me the name of a manufacturer of a flow and pressure controller that uses a hydraulic cylinder as the only controlling element (this is, not to actuate a control valve), because maybe my boss would decide for buying such an equipment instead of assembling it by ourselves from its individual components. Just hook up your 3000 PSIG to the 2 ports with a flow turbine and a pressure relief valve back to tank? Add a couple needle valves and you are in business. You can fine tune the flow using the meter with the safety back up. I think I would also install a bypass valve to increase flexibility. This will also aid if you have a requirement for temperature within a range. Just be careful not to hydraulic lock the system by supplying the same pressure and flow to the 2 ports. Something you will have to evaluate based on the schematic and valve design. If you need a delta P then you may need to adjust the flow between the two ports. |
