I never worked with polyurethane before and need some input. I am using the urethane (60A-70a durometer) as a pliable locator and need to adhere it to an aluminum substrate so that I can thread it for a SHCS. What would be the best adhesive to use to apply the urathene to the aluminum? Thanks |

I have a vendor that does that for me. Guss will tell you what to do..
I'll mail you some instructions, so I won't be advertising a vendor on this forum. -randy- The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |

Randy, we have worked hard to keep this forum a true question and answer venue. As you are aware, sometimes we have to suggest a vendor to actually help somebody. The no advertising rule on Engineers Edge forum has worked well to keep the spam out. Self-promotion, forum spam tag teams, and drive-by spammers can quickly degrade the quality of any forum. I know that it may seem hypocritical since we place advertisements all over Engineers Edge, as well as, on this forum. Engineers Edge has grown into a very significant database of engineering, design, and manufacturing knowledge. If you do a search on Google for "www.engineersedge.com", you will find that there are a significant number of references for Engineers Edge. I expect to have over 300,000 visitors this month alone. The advertising you see on Engineers Edge is there to pay for this resource and to keep Engineers Edge free to users. Recently, we had a clearly knowledgeable individual post an informative dissertation and then, at the end of the message, promote a commercial product. It pained me to remove the message, since the message had real value, however the message could set an undesirable precedence. I do feel that we could suggest a potential vendor without being too obvious, for example, ask somebody to search Google for “vendor keyword”. I feel this would be helpful, as well as, not appearing as forum spam. Sometimes, I have edited a web address, to www(dot)company(dot)com, particularly when the web reference was very helpful. What are your thoughts? How do we help suggest a vendor without looking like commercial spam?

I think the vendor I wanted to offer here does not offer a service that would conflict any on the site. However, my thoughts are this; I would rather not recommend a vendor outright and, I think, I prefer to do so via private e-mail, this way it will not conflict a possible future vendor that may pay to advertise on the site. We never know who we may pick-up as we grow. I feel better "safe than sorry". Plus it makes me more "squeakie clean" so if we have to remove or alter a post for crossing over the "rules" by dropping a vendor name a finger can't be pointed back at us. 'what ya think? -randy- The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |
