Hello, I'm looking for a low-cost solution to detect without intrusion (without tapping into any pipes) whether a water faucet is on or not. I don't care to know flow rates or anything else. Just need a signal to my controller when water flow is detected and another signal when water flow stops. 1 thought is to put a sensor on the outside of the sink. Another thought is to put a moisture senson on the sink bowl or the drain pipe. Thoughts will be greatly appreciated. |

In all but a few cases there will be a temp difference when a fluid is passing through a pipe. You may could use this to tell if a the fluid is flowing. -randy- The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |
