Shackle in leaf springs

I have noticed in almost all of the leaf springs (both in front & rear springs), the shackle is present always at the rear eye of the spring and not on the other eye. Why? why not on the front eye? Regards Antony

Interesting question, I can see a reason for the rear axle configured that way.  If you analze the leaf spring dynamics by visualizing the front pin as stationary and stricking an arc motion with the rear shackled end.  You will the center of a semi-circle being the front pin and semi-circle being the rear shackle. This would allow movement of the axle away from the driveline.
