I am building robots for a high school. We need to find a better/quick method for fastening aluminum square tubing to make a frame. I was recently give an example fastener that inserts into the square tubing, the fastener has two layers of binding metal wings around a threaded hole which allows a bolt to be inserted into the end of the tubing into the threaded portion, giving a very strong grip if making a frame. It was mentioned that this fastener came from a wheel chair manufacturing firm. Please offer any info you regarding this type or any similar type of fastener. Of course I could weld the joints, but that would be permenant. Please respond... Modified by buc at Sun, Nov 28, 2004, 13:00:15 |

I have seen such a fastener before. However, I am not aware of a standard supplier for these type of fasteners. There are dry wall picture hanging devices which may give you ideas. Check out your favorite hardware store for ideals. |
