hi everyone, would you please help me how to calculate back lash for spur and helical gear. And is there any connection between speed and the value of gear back lash. Regards,

Backlash is to allow the teeth to pass without foul due to temperature expansion and manufacturing errors between teeth. The more accurate the teeth, the less BL is needed. There are rules of thumb e.g (.03 x Mn)+.05mm. The higher the speed then the less backlash the better, but you also need better accuracy with speed. Look in a few textbooks to see the offerings see ( select "email author" for web address of site) some gear calcs Modified by Administrator at Tue, Oct 05, 2004, 08:48:07 |
