I am looking for both printed and on-line resources that will guide my material selection in the design process. I need specific details about standard tube and bar dimensions in steels and aluminums, such as ID and OD and other material dims.. I outsource manufacturing to machine shops and others, so I am not cultivating relationships with material vendors. JD |

JD,
My best suggestion is to contact a material vendor and request a line sheet of stocked products. They will generally stock standard, popular sizes and configs. If you can find someone that will pass you their old EMJ book, they are really great for just what you are asking. AND .. they have nice data about each config of material. Your machine shop likely has a favorite material vendor or two that would be happy to furnish you a line sheet or book knowing you will be specf. their products. hope this helps -randy- The worst suggestion of you lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |
