Glass is made from predominantly sand (silica) how does this solid become clear in the finished process. Is there a chemical change under heat? |

Silica in it's pure form is clear. Sand has impurities in it which gives it "color". Once the impurities are removed you end up with a clear silica... Which makes excellant glass. |
