Hi all, We're working with a touch sensor system that is using earth ground as a conductive media for the touch signal.  The system needs low current DC power (5V) in order to power a micro and we've found that connecting that there are potential problems in doing this if the power source is grounded.  Does anyone know of a cheap strategy for isolating the power before it gets to our micro?

If you are wanting and talking about getting rid of the static and residual voltage between your unit and earth ground. You may try providing a power supply which is exclusive to your touch unit and then place a 1 meg ohm resistor shunt across your power supply (to earth and the other non-grounded pole) at the touch unit to pass residual voltages. These residual voltages should be of a very small current, the resistor should drain them to a non-effective voltage.
