: I HAVE A QUESTION. SOME TIMES PIPE FLANGES ARE REFERRED TO IN THE FOLLOWING TERM i.e. 400LB FLANGE. 300LB FLANGE, ETC. WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE TERM Xlb FLANGE.Flanges are categorized by size, type (loose, integral, weld-neck etc.) and pressure rating. The lb designation in the US designation for pressure rating. A larger lb rating means a larger allowable pressure rating.
