That could be a M1.7x3 which is a small metric screw. (sometimes commas are used instead of decimals) PCS usually stands for "pieces". If you are gettin this information from a product manual my guess would be for that. Good luck

hello, thank you for reply. you are right, the comma is from the TRC1195 service manual (part list), and 1,7 must be read in english 1.7 (mm). it seems to be clear that the thread is metric. the problem is that no harware supplier questioned either in france or in others neibouring countries is currently able to locate that screw. they have found -from the DIN84A standard (germany):1.6mm diameter with a 3mm length,and a thread=0.35, also the next diameter:2mm thread=0.40. the ISO standard (7045) begins with a 2mm diameter. i will try to ask a watch repair shop...

I'd seek out a radio/electronics hobbiest or an older HAM (radio operator). These people tend to have bins, drawers, jars, or cabinets with a large assortment of screws salvaged from all kinds of electronics gadgets. This would give you a chance to replace the screw and meet an interesting person that may be able to help you and other ways related to your voice recorder. The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them.

hello, thank you for reply; it seems that the thread could be "metric", but this kind of very small screw is out of the ISO standards i know (ISO 7045)and probably not listed in the US standards. it's called a "phillips" screw, but what "phillips" is standing for or coming from? still: PCS means? regards

"phillips" only relates to the kind of slot in the head, that is the cross slot using a cross shaped screw driver head with a point... are you playing with us? No apology necessary, I ment no bad intent, I was just surprised that your did not know what a philips screw was. It never occured to me that it may not translate well into a different language. I thought perhaps the screw question was for hummor. Be assured, I wish you the best luck in finding that screw. all right, thanks- i didn't know the origin of that name: "phillips" (with 2 l)i understand now that a such print on a head of a screw is what is called a "cruciforme" print here("cruciforme" is from "the cross" in latin language)in addition, i know very well the PHILIPS Company (netherlands) i have worked in that group for 10 years, but i didn't see any relationship with a "line" of screws/screwdrivers... best regards i am still hunting a sanyo service point..
