Edit
": I'm having a difficult time understaing the whole concept about composite position tolerance. Can someone please explain to me how to get the pattern-locating tolerance zone? I know how to calculate the feature-relating tolerance zone but I have no idea on how to calculate the pattern. Are there any specific formulas you can share with me?"Not to over-simplify anything, but when i look at composite position or other (profile)the top portion of the feature control frame defines the required tolerance (location or distance) of the features relative to the defined datums or 0,0,0. I like to call it ground zero. The lower portion controls the features tolerances (location) relative to each other and orients to the specified datums (controls the angle). To measure or calculate the locations one would select one of the feature as 0,0,0 then measure the other features relative to it. In general, one can consider the tolerances of the features (lower and upper feature control frame) separately from a tolerance point of view. But, remember from an academic point of view, the lower portion of the feature control frame tolerance is contained within the specified tolerances of the upper portion of the feature control frame. Hope this helps!!!!
