There are many options for using up the pitch clearances in nut/screw interfaces. Try looking at "Clich" nut type of female threads or "tri-lobal" deformation that would make pitch diameter contact and is excellent for vibration.: I AM A DESIGNER OF MICROWAVE FILTERS AND QUITE OFTEN WE USE SCREWS OR STUDS WITH AN ELECTRICAL CAVITY TO FINE TUNE THE WAVELENGTHS TO THEIR CORRECT SETTINGS.: OFTEN WE HAVE FILTERS THAT ARE SUBJECT TO VIBRATION AND SHOCK. WHAT I HAVE FOUND IS THAT THERE IS HIGH INSERTION LOSS (BAD CONTACT) AT MY TUNING SCREWS.: WHAT I THINK IS THAT THE SCREW IS NOT MAKING GOOD CONTACT WITH ITS COUNTERPART THREAD. THREADS ARE ALSO SILVER PLATED SO THAT ADDS ANOTHER INCONSISTANCY.: IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO GET A BETTER FIT?: OR IS THERE SUCH A THING CALLED AN EXPANDING THREADDED SCREWS?
