I guesss there could be a program like you say. If you have the original cad/draft file, you may be able to open the file and flip some option that displays the dimensions in imperial units or both. What cad software was the file created with?

The prints come in from all over, but they're in all types of format (none of which are cad based) .tif, .bmp, gif, pdf... So I was hoping to find a program like Acrobat that would accept all types of file formats, recognize text, and with a click of a button conversion magic! I might be dreaming on this, but I can't be the only company spending too much time converting and getting the conversions double checked for human error?

I've been there, human error is natural and unavoidable. I did have a software which recognized scanned text and converted into a text document. I don't remember what it was, however it only worked half of the time. I think the software came wich a scanner I bought. Good luck and let us know if you find a solution.
