I am having some problems with the interpretation of the API code about welding procedures. I am involve in a project manufacturing an API tank, we are having problems in some section were we have overlapping welding. In the same spot I got union of metal plates and the internal structure. Now I do not know how to attack this problem. I was thinking to perform non- destructive test, to make sure there is a well-welded union.
Have anyone have any suggestions that can lead me to the solution of this problem? |

First you must determine the Specification the tank is to be built to. (API 620, API 650, API 12, etc.) Then you should procure a "Standards" or "Specification" booklet for it. This will give you all the info. necessary to design your Joints & their weldments. The API Standards can be bought thru most Engineering Publications Stores. Hope this helps, Thanks, Scooter |

Yes
I am sorry, I think I did not specify, I am building an API 650 tank. I do not know how this kind of problems (overlaping welding is treated by the API 650. I am not an expert interpretating the code, so I was looking for someone with experience using the API 650 code to guide me in finding the solution. |

If you can build a tank, you can interpretate the API 650 standards manuel. The weld design section has many drawings, the related information is simple to understand & read, you should not have any problems with this IF YOU WILL GET A COPY OF THE API 650 STANDARD. Try it, you'll like it. Scooter |
