This is my first post so I am not really sure how to search the forum for related topics. I am looking for a type of lubricant that I could use to lubricate brass. Is there a type of oil that brass bushings can be soaked in in order to impregnate the material. Any help would be much appreciated Regards

The kind of brass (actually bronze) that is soaked in oil to make it lubricative is special for that purpose. It is a porous and has room in the structure for the oil molecules. You want to use bronze for bearings, brass is generally too gummy. The material to make bearings of with oil impregnated is oilite. Also, you might consider Tefflon, Nylon, UHMW, Delrin, Polyetholine, or other materials. The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |
