hi, i would like to get authorized certification for autocad, solidworks, catia, (As given by microsoft certification thru online exams) it is possible to get the certification for the above softwares if so let me know the details and procedures thanks & regards k.saravanan

You can get various levels of certification in SolidWorks by attending classes at SolidWorks vendors, for a fee. You get a deploma according to the level of class you take. Then, you can take a test, a real dooosey, to get certified as a SolidWorks tech. But... be advised, this means you are certified to perform troubleshooting to SolidWorks customers and it takes those actually employed by SolidWorks vendors a while to earn that certification, and they must be re-certified to any new updated version.. It would be a good idea to have a few hundred hours of hours of CAD experience before attending any but the beginner level classes. Someone just starting in CAD may do ok in the beginner basic class but to really grasp the use and production methods taught in an advanced class is not easily in the grasp of someone new to CAD software. Those classes are usually attended by designers with thousands of hours of CAD experience. Most often it is hard to get a vendor to agree to teach an unexperienced CAD user in an advanced class because they cause serious delays in the classroom where the other students want to move productivly and quickly through methods and grasp as much as they can get while there with the undivided attention of the instructors. Instructors have an outline of material to cover and unexperienced students can't generally keep up. I have been using CAD systems for many years, I nearly live in CAD, and am curently using SolidWorks most of the day... almost everyday... and am considered fairly effecient, but there is still plenty I don't know, and each new update version continually adds more tools to be absorbed or relearned. CAD design is a profession populated by many very intelligent and highly skilled and competitive design engineers. New comers to CAD are hired daily, but expect to find it a hand full to use well unless under the guidance of an experienced user. It is one thing to understand how to get around in a CAD software system and work with the provided drawing tools, it is a completely different ability to have the talent, engineering skills and knowledge to apply it towards a useful project in an effecient manner. If you are looking for a short cut to learning several CAD systems... you are not going to find one. Good Day Randy and Kelly Thanks for the reply.... well I have been using Autocad and SolidWorks for the past 4 years and am familiar with it...... i have been told the CATIA certification does not require any classes... so I would like to know if it is possible to get a similar certification in SolidWorks (sans the classes). I also have been certified by CPLR(in my place) for AutoCAD and Soliworks. Or is it advisable to attend the classes and then take up the exam? Thanks. Saravanan

There is no test I know of in SolidWorks except to become a certified troubleshooter.. the dooosie... I am not aware of any offical certification available for cad software. Many college and tech schools offer classes on selected cad software.
