i am doin a project on lathe and want to know that if one is interested in finding the cutting force exerted on the cutting(turning, facing) tool what parameters shd be considered. Also, is ther any direct(or indirect) mathematical formula for derivation of forces supposing we r in complete knowledge of speed, feed ,depth etc. The lathe is a normal tool room lathe

Cutting forces and chip flow angle.
There are three cutting forces, nose radius, depth of cut, lead angle assosiated with cutting edge. CFA=90-atan (a-x/b)

I do not know of such a formula. There are many, many variables beyond the obvious RPM, Depth of cut, and Feed rate. Things like; tool sharpness,
and more...
