There are liquid (fuel) flow sensors that will output data which can be used to compare to odometer outputs. Perhaps someone will know the aprox costs. Realize that machinery (be it autos, motorcycles, or whatever) using a computerized fuel injection system, which pulses a carefully measured amount of fuel into each cyclinder per firing cycle of an internal cumbustion engine, coupled to a drive chain with a digital odometer or hour meter has data to calculate a close fuel to distance or hour figure using an eprom stored program. This calculated data only needs to be sent to a human readable format. While that long running sentence sounds simple, it requires several steps of technology to achieve. However, the good news is, as these components become more and more common, you can bet, a simple "plug n play" version and/or kit will soon be on the market at a reasonable price. Now, there is a clear message in this answer for some ace engineering team to run with. Are you up to putting the information Kelly is threading (How to Engineer your Idea to Market) to work? thanx 4 th info. i am thinkin on developing somethin on similar lines. i would require some more info eg is this system applicable to CFI systems only, also are there any analog means of carrying out or giving the mileage. also what kind of flow level sensors are used.
