Why not just post the questions here?

That will give us a chance to assess whether they something that we can answer within the TOS (Terms Of Service) for this forum.

Matt,

Why don't you go first and answer the following:

I don't recommend anybody post their email on a public internet website...

1) Your name, degree pursuing, name of School currently attending.

2) Please describe your major and/or minor you are pursuing.

3) What is your current class status (Senior, junior?

4) Please describe the particular class that is requiring you to survey engineers.

5) What is your average school weekly schedule?

6) Starting with middle/junior high school, describe your educational background chronologically.

7) If you had to do it over, related to your education, what you do differently.

8) What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing an educational/career path similar to yours?

Ok, here it goes:

1. Matthew Dinwiddie, pursuing a degree in MEchanical Engineering. I am currently in High school, but plan on attending Cal Poly in the fall.

2. Mechanical Engineering.

3. Senior in High School

4. This is for my "Principles of Engineering" class, which analyzes the basics of engineering like problem solving, physics, etc.

5. I go to school from 7:30 to to 1:30 every day and am taking classes such as engineering, Physics, and AP Calculus.

6. I've taken advanced Math and English classes throughout all of high school, as
well as engineering, design and woodwork classes.

7. If i had to do it over, I would not do much different, maybe take more Advanced Placement (AP) classes to prepare for college.

8. One piece of advice would be take school seriously, because it is the foundation you will need for college and career.

Interesting! Here you go -
1. you name, degree, place of employment and email.
Joe Boggs, BSME (Mechanical), confidential

2. Please describe your engineering field.
Mechanical, specializing in machine design

3. what is your current job title?
Senior Design Engineer

4. Please describe your particular job and duties.
Designing equipment for in-plant use in a proprietary steel mill environment.

5. What is your average work schedule.
Normally 7 to 4 ...or 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 or whatever it takes.

6. Starting with high school, describe your educational background chronologically.
4-year college degree. All other education was "informal", and frankly more valuable.

7. If you had to do it over, related to your career or education, what you do differently.
I would have gotten more hands-on shop courses. I would have learned more about the various grades of steel and practical side of metallurgical processes like hardening, annealing, etc.

8. What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career path similar to yours.
First - To stay in engineering you MUST have in internal fascination for the field, else you will not enjoy what you do every day. I should say though that some very successful businessmen started in engineering and understand it well but are no longer involved in it at all. I would think that engineering would provide one of the best possible platforms from which to jump into business management or entrepreneurship.
Second - consider your graduation from college as the BEGINNING of your real education. All your contacts provide opportunities to learn, whether they are grizzled old veterans of the manufacturing wars or the plant manager's secretary. The fresh engineer that thinks he knows much of anything is usually asking for trouble.
Third - and speaking of asking for something, do not hesitate to ask those with more experience for advice and guidance. But do not ask them to do your job for you.

1. You name, degree, place of employment and email.
See above, BSME, AAS (Aviation Maintenance)

2. Please describe your engineering field.
Mechanical, currently specializing in GD&T, DFM, DFMA training and consulting.

3. What is your current job title?
Today? Chief Dish Washer

4. Please describe your particular job and duties.
Operator Engineers Edge (this place) Engineering and manufacturing training, Consulting and Publishing.

5. What is your average work schedule?
Seven days a week, most hours.

6. starting with high school, describe your educational background chronologically.

Err - High school, Mountain View College, University of Texas/Arlington - Mechanical Engineering. H... of a lot of hard work.

7. If you had to do it over, related to your career or education, what you do differently. Learn more about operating a business early in career.

8. What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career path similar to yours?

Understand who you are at the core, what you want out of life and career, and find balance. Engineering is lots of work with respect compensation and effective opportunity. If you're planning to work in a corporate environment, get as much education and formal degrees as possible. If you want to work in a small company or run your own - get an education.
