: anyone out there know a simple formula for calculating the torque input to a leadscrew's nut to get a given resultant force axial to the leadscrew?

: In this system the nut is turned to move the leadscrew.

: diameter, force output, and pitch are known. The thread is a 60 degree flank iso std thread. If there is a calculation with and without friction consideration please post it too.

Hi Randy,

I can not use a ball screw as this is a small instrument device I am working on, and the forces are low. I just want to be sure about my calculations before proceeding. It is not a machine tool application at all. If it were, I would certainly look at ball screws or SuperNuts.

Thanks, Jeff
