Coil Heating Elements Review
Coil Heating Elements are cylindrical resistive heating elements formed into a coiled form. Heating elements work by converting electricity into heat energy, are rated in watts, however heat energy transfer varies by design. Most coil heating elements are manufactured from Nichrome, Iron-Chrome, Nickel-Chrome, Nickel-Iron, Nickel, Stainless Steel, Molybdenum, Tungsten, and MoSi2 conductor wire. Coil heating elements are specified in resistance, volt-amps (watts), outside diameter (OD), wire diameter and pitch or coils per unit length. Insulation materials used on coil heating elements include: mica, asbestos, ceramics, synthetic liquids, and fiberglass.
Applications: Coil heating elements are found in consumer and industrial applications. Large diameter elements are used within plastic injection molding, blow molding machines, autoclaves, industrial paint booths, food processing equipment, and environmental chambers. Consumer applications include hair dryers, residential space heaters, electric ovens, and electric central heating systems.
