Vane Type Air Compressor Review and Design Equations
Hydraulic and Pneumatic Knowledge
Vane Type Air Compressor simplest type consists of a rotor mounted eccentrically in a cylindrical casing. The rotor has a number of radial slots in which are mounted sliding vanes, often of non-metallic material, between which the air is trapped. Reduction in the volume between vanes as the rotor rotates produces compression. Higher pressures may be attained by using more than one stage. The work is done partly isentropically and partly at constant volume.
