I am designing a 2 stage helical reducer and I am using simple deep groove ball bearings. The bearing that carries bigger radial force carries radial force only meanwhile the one that carries smaller radial force also carries axial force. I'm going with fixed/floating bearing arrangement but I don't know what exactly I'm supposed to do to fix arrange this fixed/floating setup. How can I arrange this setup?
One method is to use a press fit and/or a retaining ring on the shaft in the fixed location and have a slip or sliding fit on the floating end. In both cases the outer race is fixed.
