Plastics Shredder Design

Hey everyone,

I am a fresh-graduate mechanical engineer which focus in the field of solid mechanics and design. I want to be an Inventor. I'm trying to make a plastic shredding machine. I'm confused in what calculation should I made in designing the machine. One specific calculation that got me confused, is the knife design and the load/power requirement. I don't know how to calculate the plastics general resistance, so I don't know the power requirement, thus I do not know the capacity of my machine. Could anyone give me some guidance?
