Drilling is the cutting method of drilling holes on solid materials by drilling tools. The most commonly used drilling tool is twist drill, or drill bit. Apart from twist drill, drilling tools include flat drill, center drill, deep hole drill and compound drill. In mass production, composite bits are often used to increase the productivity of drilling stepped holes, drilling holes and chamfering holes.
There are two kinds of cutting motion when drilling with drill bits:
The first is bit rotation and axial feed. For example, drill holes in vertical drilling machines, radial drilling machines, combined drilling machines and machining centers.
The second one is work piece rotation and bit axial feed. Drilling on horizontal lathe and turret lathe.
After drilling is completed, reaming is also needed. Reaming is a machining method for enlarging the diameter of holes that have been drilled, cast and forged by using reaming drill. Compared with drilling, reaming has the characteristics of high productivity and high machining accuracy.
In addition, in order to improve productivity and machining accuracy, multi-stage compound reaming drill, guided reaming drill and carbide reaming drill are often used.
Reaming is a cutting method to remove small metal layers from the hole wall by using reaming tools.
The reamed cutter is called reamer, and the reamer is mainly used for machining and finishing the radius of the middle and small holes. Taper holes can also be machined.
Reamers have more teeth. The calibration part of the reamer plays the role of light processing surface and guiding in reaming.
Reaming has the characteristics of high machining quality and low cutting speed.
