Raw Material Usage Standard in Press Shop

Hi,

I need help to set the raw material (steel coil) usage standards for Press Shop which consist of two different processes which is the blanking process and stamping process. What kind of indicator such as weight per unit, weight per model or any indicator that most companies being using and how to know if the production produced more than needed? Does anyone have any experience to do that?

I think organizations would simply count the actual parts produced... For each part, it should be understood what the mean scrap rate is and so on..
