I need to plan a rotating device with about 1gram load on a vertically spinning rotor, rotating at about 1 Hz and with some degree of random tilting (this is for a gyro-like device). So the bearing needs to support both thrust and side loads of e.g. 1gf max . The design is currently 'open' meaning external air can reach the bearing and hence it needs to run dry.
I was looking at jewel bearings as used in watches but have come across polymer simply bearings with similar coefficients of friction. Can anyone advise on what might be better?
