Hi All,
I'm working on designing a light mount for an aquarium. The L shape rod (cantilever - Only attached at one end.. to the stand) .
The span will be about 5.5' and will have 3-4 point loads of 3-5lbs each (lighting fixture)
The vertical bar will be bolted to the stand below the tank. The height from aquarium stand to light fixtures will be around 24"
Is there an easy way to calculate the size of tubing to accomplish this with out any sag across the light bar?
What material/square tube size/gague should I use?
Could this be done with 1 or 1.5" square steel tubing? If so what gauge would you recommend?
Well, the equations on the following webpage should be helpful.
